Trench
Mountain National Park is one of nature conservation area which has the
biodiversity of high value, and various types of ecosystems such as
mangrove forests, swamp forests, peat swamp, freshwater swamp forests,
pamah tropical forests, mountains and forests are always covered in fog .
This national park is the only tropical forest Dipterocarpus best and widest in Kalimantan. Approximately 65 percent of the area, is still a primary forest undisturbed by human activity and has many plant and wildlife communities.
As with other areas of West Kalimantan, the area is generally covered by jelutung (Dyera costulata), ramin (Gonystylus bancanus), damar (Agathis borneensis), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), Rengas (Gluta renghas), ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri), Bruguiera sp ., Lumnitzera sp., Rhizophora sp., Sonneratia sp., the strangler fig, and medicinal plants.Plants that is unique in this park is the black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata), which is easily seen in the river Matan especially in February-April. The appeal of the black orchid flower seen in the form marked with a green color with a combination of black spot on the center of the flower, and long bloom between 5-6 days.Noted there are 190 species of birds and 35 species of mammals that act as seeds pemencar plants in the forest. All families of birds and most likely of all bird species in Borneo, located in the national park forest.Animals are often seen in Trench Mountain National Park is the proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus), orangutan (Pongo Satyrus), four striped ground squirrel (Lariscus hosei), deer (Muntiacus muntjac pleiharicus), bears (Helarctos malayanus euryspilus), monkey (Macaca nemestrina nemestrina), klampiau (Hylobates muelleri), slow loris (Nyticebus coucang borneanus), rhinoceros hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros borneoensis), deer (Tragulus Napu borneanus), jungle fowl (Gallus gallus), hornbills ivory (Rhinoplax vigil), Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis ), ivory turtle (Orlitia borneensis), and loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). Not less interesting where squirrels walnuts (Rheithrosciurus macrotis) are very rare, and difficult to see.Some locations / attractions to be visited:Datok Island Beach and Mount Hole Tedong.
